Thursday 12th December 2013 – Barham Primary School at the Kensington Olympia Conference Centre for a Chess Tournament.
What a day! I’m absolutely exhausted but still beaming with excitement as we had an amazing day at the CSC Chess Tournament!
Some of the children will be writing a more detailed account of the day, however I’m just so pleased with all the students that took part that I had to share!
It was a great day, broken into chess shows, games against chess masters and the actual tournament against 23 other schools…..where………..
We won a gold and bronze medal!!!
Who won them? You’ll soon find out!
Well done to all the students that took part, they did a really good job and were great ambassadors for Barham. I’ll be adding another topic about Chess soon which I hope will inspire more of you to take up the game.
Miss Khatri

In my class Yash m, Yash s and Dhwani went to the Tournament and won 3 matches each
Yash m was the best at it.
I can’t wait till you make the new blog.If there are letters about chess I will take the letter so I can vers other children and get a bronze medal or gold.
I agree with you,I was also very exhausted during the trip ,since it was a long journey!
Don’t you think we should have an assembly due to this reason?

I hope that next year barham will win. I’m very proud of barham for winning gold and bronze. And I hope next year more
students will join and we will win more medals!
Miss Khatri I would want to ask you that who was the first person versed
How many matches did you win also in adittion how many did you play.
I hope that next year there will be another chess tournament
Hello Miss Khatri,
How was your tournament?
How many poeple did you vs?
Thank you for your comments!
Akshat – We played against approximately 23 schools. The first people we played against were actually chess masters. This means they play professionally in competitions and earn money from chess. The two masters played 20 games of chess against all our students at the same time! After that, the children ate lunch and took part in the tournament against other schools. For this, our students had scorecards which they filled in every time they played, we had 64 points in total, 3 points away from winning a bronze school award (maybe next year we’ll do better!)
Thanks for your comments and questions everyone – I’ll be updating with more information about chess soon!
